Tehran's provisional Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani called on the entire Iranian nation to stage a massive turnout in the International Qods Day rallies next Friday.

Ahlul Bayt News Agency, "The demonstration and slogans chanted on the Qods Day reinvigorates the Palestinian nation and their cause," Ayatollah Emami Kashani said, addressing a large and fervent congregation of people on Tehran University campus on Friday.

"[This demonstration] prevents the Palestinian nation from being swallowed by enemies who swallow nations and define everything by the means of threats, atomic weapons, force, torture and money," Ayatollah Emami Kashani added.

The International Qods Day was started by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, in 1979 as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring importance of Qods to Muslims.

International Qods Day is an annual event opposing Israel's occupation of Baitul-Muqaddas. Anti-Zionist rallies and demonstrations are held on the last Friday of Ramadan in Muslim and Arab countries around the world, and especially in Iran.
